Seemingly I feel a little bit sad about summer being over, that I need to change T-shirts and sandals for sweaters and warm socks… and yet, after a while, sadness disappears as the sun, in all its fullness, still reigns in the sky. Only days are getting shorter and shorter and nights become colder... But I quickly forget how pleasant are long, warm evenings and lazy sunny mornings, I put on my backpack, draw in the moist and chilly air and still before dawn I set off on the trail.
I have to admit that nothing makes me happier than this deep and mature autumn landscape. I like autumn a lot… The morning chill, caused by the ground cooled during the longer and longer nights, is one of the first signs of the arrival of my beloved season. Just in the cool of the morning , the fog, inherent to the autumn landscape, is formed, what makes the lands looking even fuller. All this is complemented by the sun wandering lower and lower, so strongly emphasizing a feast of colours.
Autumn is an excellent time for hiking, that’s when I hit the trail alone. I like to start the day before dawn. Fortunately at this time of the year sunrise occurs quite late what gives me an opportunity to reach unique places just in time for the morning show played by the nature. I can watch struggles of a night and a day, when the fogging along the river slowly moves away to give place for warm rays of the sun. Slowly appearing details are a real delight for my eyes.
The afternoons in autumn are usually quite sunny with much higher temperatures than in the mornings. You can throw off your hat and gloves to enjoy the remains of fleeing warmth. It is a time of relaxation and calmness for me, the time to catch a breath after an energizing summer and to recharge my batteries before the long winter.
And the evenings? The nature lit by the setting autumn sun is an unforgettable view that remains in your memory for so long.
Palette of colours seems to be even warmer, the sky even more pastel, and returning fog gradually is wrapping the earth tighter and tighter, like a scarf, until the cool night comes. With fulfilled heart I can go back home, sip a hot drink and lie under a cosy blanket waiting what especial the next day is going to bring.
